Formal Representation of Beliefs Gradation: probabilistic, multi-valued and graded modalities’ approaches

چکیده
The aim of the article is to provide a comprehensive survey of formal methods currently widely used to model the gradation of beliefs. Thus, it brings together in an insightful way several frameworks representing probabilistic, multi-valued and graded modalities’ approaches. They enable to express, in various manners, uncertainty of agents’ beliefs and, even more, the process of persuasion which is in fact related to the phenomenon

Reasoning with Models of Probabilistic Knowledge over Probabilistic Knowledge
In multi-agent systems, the knowledge of agents about other agents’ knowledge often plays a pivotal role in their decisions. In many applications, this knowledge involves uncertainty. This uncertainty may be about the state of the world or about the other agents’ knowledge. In this thesis, we answer the question of how to model this probabilistic knowledge and reason about it efficiently. Modal...
متن کاملPDT logic: a probabilistic doxastic temporal logic for reasoning about beliefs in multi-agent systems
We present Probabilistic Doxastic Temporal (PDT) Logic, a formalism to represent and reason about probabilistic beliefs and their temporal evolution in multi-agent systems. This formalism enables the quantification of agents’ beliefs through probability intervals and incorporates an explicit notion of time. We discuss how over time agents dynamically change their beliefs in facts, temporal rule...

The study of formal theories of agents has intensi...ed over the last couple of decades, since such formalisms can be viewed as providing the speci...cations for building rational agents and multi-agent systems. Most of the proposed approaches are based upon the well-understood framework of modal logics and possible world semantics. Although intuitive and expressive, these approaches lack two p...
متن کاملCommunication Attitudes: A Formal Approach to Ostensible Intentions, and Individual and Group Opinions
Conventional approaches to the modeling of autonomous agents and agent communication rely heavily on the ascription of mental properties like beliefs and intentions to the individual agents. These “mentalistic” approaches are, when applicable, very powerful, but become problematic in open environments like the Semantic Web, Peer2Peer systems and open multiagent systems populated by truly autono...
متن کاملA COMMON FRAMEWORK FOR LATTICE-VALUED, PROBABILISTIC AND APPROACH UNIFORM (CONVERGENCE) SPACES
We develop a general framework for various lattice-valued, probabilistic and approach uniform convergence spaces. To this end, we use the concept of $s$-stratified $LM$-filter, where $L$ and $M$ are suitable frames. A stratified $LMN$-uniform convergence tower is then a family of structures indexed by a quantale $N$. For different choices of $L,M$ and $N$ we obtain the lattice-valued, probabili...
